Stefan’s Weeknotes 29/06/2024
Inspired by the weeknotes of friends and coachees including John Fitzgerald, Steve Messer and Nour Sidawi - I thought I'd give it a go.
Here's an insight into my life; week by week.
Hope you enjoy; comments welcome
1. What's been good about this week?
Well I have to start with completing the Solstice sprint on Sunday; a 1000km bike race which i completed in 3.5 days which included 24000m of climbing and sleeping in cvhurch porches for 3 nights.
I absolutely loved it looking back now, but my oh my it's the toughest physical task I've ever completed.
Hill and mountain after mountain; many hours were spent just asking my body to get me up the hills but I did it and I came 49th out of a signed up group of 165 riders.
My first ultra ever and first ride with back to back 270KM rides - I am chuffeed to pieces and have been thanking those who helped all week on social media in a week of gratitide.
On top of this I've held some coaching sessions and 'won' two new clients one of whom will be returning to a leadership role after a few years away working as a specialist and another whom heads up a wonderful organisation and needs some support taking the org forward into its next chapter and managing the chair and board.
I also got to spend loads of time with my partner Dominique who was just amazing motivational support throughout the solstice ride via whats app and the odd call.
2. What am I grateful for?
I am grateful for everyone who has helped me prepare.
I am grateful for all of the life experiences I've had
I am grateful for all the rides I've had in tha past two years which put this one into perspective.
I am grateful for my parents who gave me a bedrock of values, commtment and detereminatiin to be able to still feel a passion for life after all these years that burns like an olympic torch.
3. What could have gone better?
Nothing; it's been fab.
Oh - I could have cleaned the flat and organised all my gear - but hey. That can wait - I've been busy living life.
4. What am I reading?
I'm re-reading The Dot" by ultra rider Lachlan Morton. A fab account of Lachlan completing the tour de france quicker than the peleton.
It read it after a personal plea to find a copy on twitter which was met by the fabulous author of "end to end" (another book in my to read pile) Paul Jones who had a copy in his personal collection. I cannot thank Paul enough and am looking forwrad to re-reading "The Dot" and reading End to End.
Looking forward to seeing how the books resonate after the ride in comparison to before it.
5. What am I wishing for?
I am wishing for good health to everyine and that you may all be blessed with the time. passion and commitement to go and experience life and not just love through it.
6. A Last Word
Gratitide.
I have gratitude for all that helpoed me.
I had gratitude on the ride for the time to ride it and the opportunity to do so
I have gratitude for the workd that we live in.
Gratitude helps.
Lets do this people
